Buttercup Squares

This quilt is a present for a wedding we will be attending next month - the bride's mother chose the fabrics ("Buttercup" designed by Joanna Figueroa - Fig Tree).  Sewing down the binding on this very large quilt has been a pleasure on these very cold winter nights.

Can't say I enjoyed quilting this one so much just because of the size but it's turned out well.

Knitting is going well - the back of Michael's jumper is finished and I'm halfway up the front.

So very cold here lately and looks like the cold snap will continue for the long weekend.  Beef and vegie soup in the crock pot today and I think I'll cook a chilli in the crock pot tomorrow.  We have my sister-in-law and nephew here for the weekend which is lovely.

A Party

We had such a lovely time at the birthday party yesterday morning.  The Birthday Boy is our dear friends' grandson and it's so nice to be included in the fun.

Poppy arranged for a baby animal farm to visit - all the children loved patting, feeding and chasing the animals.  The little pigs were hilarious.

It's time for a new hairstyle - I have an appointment with my hairdresser on Wednesday.  Picked up my new glasses 2 weeks ago and am finally used to the new lenses.

These are the two blocks that make up the Stepping Stones quilt - not sure yet if I really like them.  I'm hoping I feel more positive when more blocks are together.

Karen and I will be making our quilts over the next few months.

Yesterday evening finally put a quilt on the frame (Buttercup Squares) - about time I attacked the pile of quilt tops.  This quilt is a wedding present for July.

Almost Finishes

In June 2009 I went to Kingaroy for the first time.  I took along "Simplicity" to sew up over the weekend.  I got this far then sewed these pieces together and made the outer flying geese borders when I came home.  The quilt has sat in the cupboard ever since.

Today I sewed the final outer borders onto the quilt top and it's now in the pile waiting to be quilted.

Simplicity is such a pretty fabric range and the design is really lovely.

When we came back from holidays in January, I sewed up a very quick quilt top in Fig Tree's Buttercup fabric.  That quilt top also needed borders and they were done today as well.

I have a drawer in the sewing room where I store bindings for the quilts I hope to finish off one day ...

It's gettng a bit full.  Think it's time to do some quilting.

Quick Quilt Top

I had two charm packs of Fig Tree's Buttercup plus a little bit by the yard in my cupboard and bought another two charm packs on special at Hatched and Patched.  Four charm squares sewn together to make a larger square, 2-1/2" sashings and posts, the tennis on the tv to watch/listen to and it's done.

I've ordered some B fabrics (border, backing and binding) and when they arrive I'll finish off the top.

We are going to a wedding in July and this may be the present.  I showed these fabrics and some Bliss fabrics to the bride's mother and asked her which she thought her daughter would like - she chose Buttercup.  I'm slowly working my way through the Fig Tree stash.  Have a bit of a Bonnie and Camille stash happening too.

We had a great night out in Sydney on Thursday night - dinner with all the kids at a Mexican in Newtown and coffee/sweets at Max Brenner.  Lunch with The Schoolgirls today.  Seem to be a "lady who lunches" lately.  No complaints from me.
