100% Charming

Stitched the binding down on this quilt while watching tv on Sunday night.

I really enjoyed making 100% Charming - lots of lovely Bonnie and Camille fabrics from so many of their ranges and used up some other B and C fabrics for the borders - the pinks and red/pinks were used in the last quilt I finished.  The quilt was designed by Jedi Craft Girl - gotta love her business name.

The orange peel quilting by Quilting on the Coast looks wonderful - gives the quilt great texture.

I love B and C's cross stitch fabrics and they all work well as backings.

Karen quilted "Jacob's Ladder" yesterday - another one to add to the binding pile.

Over the weekend I started working on a new Thimble Blossoms' pattern "Hey Day".

It goes together very quickly.  I'm using Bonnie and Camille's "The Good Life" fabrics for this quilt and the background fabric is little pink and red hearts on white from the same range.

There are 9 large blocks with sashings between.

ChaCha enjoyed herself at the birthday party with her little cousins.  We visited the Illawarra Quilters' Show afterwards - some lovely quilts on display and some fun quilts.

Saturday afternoon Jenni and Kurt came to visit - they had been to their jeweller that morning the pick of the engagement ring.  It's stunning.

Kurt chose the opal because he knew Jenni would love the colours, the larger dark stone is a parti sapphire, the other is a green sapphire, the smaller diamond is champagne and the larger diamond along with the gold are my Mum's engagement ring.

I've Been on a Little Trip

Recently I had a few days off work to take a little trip to Queensland and attend a family wedding in Sydney.

The trip to Queensland was to spend some time with my friend Diann.  Diann booked us in to the Stitchers' Dream Day Out in Toowoomba and we travelled up there on the Friday evening.  The room was set up beautifully.

Libby Richardson, one of the designers for the day, is well-known for her painted bears and she gave us all lessons.  This was a first for me.

The rest of the time away was spent relaxing with some knitting

and a little bit of shopping for pink fabrics to add to my stash for cot quilts.

I'm making a couple of little pink quilts at the moment for friends who are having granddaughters.  One is Cluck Cluck Sew's "Kaleidoscope" design, which I have made many times

and the other is a Dresden Plate design.

 

The Dresden Plates are all stitched to the background and the background has been trimmed from the back of the plates ready for the blocks to be sewn together tonight.

This same pink has been used as background for Kaleidoscope - the colour is better in daylight.

The centres for the Dresden Plates and Kaleidoscope blocks are from the cutest fabric ever, "Old and New 30's" by Lecien.

Over the last little while I've been collecting fabrics to make another Medley Quilt (a special request from a friend).  The final pack of fabrics arrived last week and I'm looking forward to starting this quilt later in the year (or perhaps early next year).

Last Friday, my cousin's daughter, Gabby, was married.  Jenni came to the Hens' Night with me a couple of months ago and Elizabeth came to the wedding.  So lovely to have a night out with Elizabeth.

The wedding was beautiful, the bride stunning and the groom was in tears during the vows - perfection.

The ceremony was held in a park in Watsons Bay and the reception followed in the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.

I made the Pineapple Quilt for Gabby's recent birthday and I was tickled pink to see the gold pineapples used for table decorations at the wedding.

A Day Off

My cousin's daughter was married in the Hunter Valley on Saturday.  Lynell came with me and on Friday we drove up north in torrential rain.  A three-hour trip took 4-1/2 hours.  The groom is from Scotland and his family, along with many friends, had made the trip to Australia for the wedding.  We met up with most of them for dinner on Friday night - a fun night in a pub in Maitland.

The wedding was wonderful - the bride looked spectacular.  The groom and all the Scottish visitors wore kilts, even the couple's 11 month old son had a kilt specially made for the wedding.  The groom's aunt is a kilt-maker and hand sews every kilt she makes.  There is up to 7m of fabric in a man's kilt and 3.5m of fabric in the baby's!

On Sunday morning we attended a recovery breakfast with the family then started the journey back to Sydney.  For Christmas Jenni and Kurt bought me a ticket to see "Cabaret" with Paul Capsis and Lynell dropped me at the theatre where I met up with Jenni and Kurt.  The show was fabulous.  I've seen the show performed live twice now and it's very confronting and quite sinister.  Everyone in the show was fabulous.

Monday was a day off work - recovery day from the big weekend.  Spent most of the day sewing the Scrappy Trip Around the World blocks together.

and on Monday night I sewed backings for three quilts to drop off with Karen when we have stitching on Saturday.

Not Much Stitching Happening

No progress at all on my Gingham Girls and very slow progress on my BFF blocks.

The canvas collage of Elizabeth and Matt's wedding photos arrived a couple of weeks ago - it's turned out really well and looks great on the wall with Michael and Peta's wedding photo.

 Had a quick shopping trip with Elizabeth two weeks ago - came home with a new handbag for summer.

And I've bought luggage for a holiday next year - a little wheelaboard bag is inside this large bag.

No 1 Baby Girl's birthday tomorrow, so am looking forward to lunch with her tomorrow.

Wedding Photos

We visited The Bride and Groom yesterday and saw their "official" wedding photos - they are really lovely and so many of them show the happiness felt on the day as well as the beautiful venue and lots of the little details that made the day so wonderful.
