Dashing

This quilt was finished last week - the top was put together in May but I had to wait a couple of months for the border/backing/binding fabric to arrive as it was a brand new release.  The quilt is a Coriander Quilts design and the pretty fabric is "Chantilly" by FigTree & Co.

I asked Karen to quilt this one with "Modern Twist".

I bought a fat quarter bundle of all the "Chantilly" fabrics and a bolt of the pretty backing fabric - I think there's enough left for backing one more quilt.  All the fabrics in this range are so pretty.

A new great-nephew was born on Friday - always lovely to welcome a sweet baby.

The Stitching Girls came over on Saturday afternoon - it's been a while since we've seen each other, so there was lots of catching up and Sunday was spent with family - a great weekend.

Borders

"Nine Patch Waltz" quilt top was finished last week and dropped off to Karen to quilt.  The backing is the same "Strawberry Fields Revisited" fabric as the border - I love this print.

I've been waiting for ages for a bolt of the pretty "Chantilly" fabric to arrive so that I could finish of the "Dashing" quilt top and make the backing.  It's now ready to drop off for quilting when I pick up "Nine Patch Waltz"

Such a great weekend!  Saturday the family all landed at Jenni and Kurt's place for lunch to wish them a fun (and safe) Honeymoon trip to Europe.  They will be away for almost four weeks and are going to have the best time.  Two little sweethearts had such a great time playing with each other - makes my heart happy.

Mum and I called in to Ikea on the way home (it's 2 minutes drive from Jenni and Kurt's house) - I had a shopping list of 2 items and, believe it or not, that's all I bought :)

Yesterday my dear friends, Lynell and Darren, came for lunch.  They, along with Robyn, have been away on a huge holiday to Israel and Jordan and then Lynell and Robyn went on to Sweden and Finland.  So lovely to see them and catch up on all their holiday news.

A Week Off

It's been a huge couple of weeks - Jenni and Kurt's wedding followed by a week off work during which I was hoping to sew and watch movies but plans changed (and that's not always a bad thing).

First up I sewed the "Dashing" blocks together.  This is such a great pattern - goes together very quickly and has a lovely secondary design.  The "Chantilly" fabric is so pretty.  I'm waiting for the backing fabric to arrive then it can be quilted.

I cut out the rest of the "Fresh" blocks.

The blocks are so big I can only fit four on my design sheet. 

Five blocks have been sewn together - eleven to go.

May's row for "Christmas Cheer"

and, as May is my month to receive blocks, the Christmas Stockings and Santa Hats have been arriving.

Re-made September's "Lucky" block so that each segment is out of a single fabric - the scrappy block can go into my next sampler.

Late last week Bonnie and Camille released their patterns to go with their new fabric range "Early Bird" - I bought a couple of patterns and had to cut fabrics to start the scrappy version of "Spinning Stars".  Think I'm going to love this quilt.

Been a while since I've had so many quilts on the go.

Lastly, I don't have many photos from the wedding - we're excitedly awaiting the "official" photos. This is one of my favourites.

Knitting

Last October I started knitting for our newest sweetheart and finished the last cardigan this week - most of the knitting has been done during lunchtimes at work.  Hard to believe he is 7 weeks old already.

Here's hoping he likes to wear hand-knits - his sister won't wear anything woollen or with buttons.

A couple of quick-knits out of Bendigo Woollen Mills Luxury 4 ply.

The pattern for the grey cardigan was a bit weird with the button bands knitted as you go - much prefer the finish of separately-knitted button bands.

As of 6.00 pm last night The Wedding sewing is finished.

In between wedding sewing, I've been working on "Dashing" blocks - these blocks come together very quickly and make a fun design,

Tonight I'll be cutting out some Aussie Bonnie and Camille Beehive blocks.

Binding

A parcel from Sarah arrived earlier this week - two "Butterfly Patch" quilts.

Along with "Sylvia's Bridal Sampler" I will have loads of binding to keep me busy while catching up on some tv shows over the Easter weekend (in between wedding sewing and spending time with family and friends).

Picked up my sewing machine on Tuesday and finished off the Flower Girl's dress - it's very sweet.

I've been making this month's "Summer Moon" blocks and need to catch up on this month's "Christmas Cheer" row.

Tomorrow is our annual sewing day with The Girls and I've cut out "Dashing" in FigTree & Co's new "Chantilly" range to start sewing.

So many pretty colours in this fabric range.

The family is coming for lunch on Sunday - looking forward to lots of fun with my sweethearts.
