Not much to write about ...

I've been busy at home decorating the house for Christmas.  Mum's birthday is this coming Sunday and I like to have most of the decorating finished so that the all of Mum's great-grandchildren can enjoy it all when they come for Mum's birthday lunch.  Vinnie has visited a couple of times over the last two weeks and has had a ball playing with the train etc.

On Saturday, Elizabeth, Lynell and I went to Sydney to see "Moulin Rouge" - loved it.  I've known one of the main performers since he was a very little boy and it's wonderful seeing him shine.  So much colour, fantastic singing and dancing.

Very little sewing over the last couple of weeks - made Simone Gooding's "Jumbleberry Santas".  They were very enjoyable to make and a nice change from sewing quilts and dressmaking.

All of the littlies were at my place on Sunday to decorate the Christmas tree.  Such a fun day and they each took home a Santa and a new ornament for their trees at home.

Love the little foreman with his garden spade.

Scrappy Log Cabin

This is the second extra-large scrappy log cabin I've made and it was just as much fun as the first one.  So many favourite fabrics and last pieces of many of them.

I love polka dots and they work really well for the setting triangles and the posts.

A pretty Bonnie and Camille floral for the backing with a scrappy binding and Baptist Fan quilting.

Yesterday I posted Friendship Blues to Karen for quilting and that will be the last quilt for this year - there were also a cushion cover and two pillow shams in the package.  Time to start Christmas sewing for the little ones and the house decorating has also begun.  So many social activities in November leading up to Mum's 95th birthday party on 4 December.

I had dinner with The Schoolgirls on Friday night then went to the local races with a bunch of friends for a Rotary Club fundraiser.  Jenni, Kurt and Vinnie stayed over on the weekend and Vinnie went to his first show - his mind was blown seeing The Wiggles in Wollongong.

Flicker from View

Jo from Thimbles and Needles asked me to test her latest pattern "Flicker from View".   The pattern has various size options so I chose to make the baby size so Mum could give it to her new great-grandbaby.  Mum finished sewing down the binding yesterday - such a sweet quilt.

I always love Cloud 9 quilting on baby quilts - looks so soft and works very well with these pretty "Guess How Much I Love You" fabrics.

Churn Dash SAL

Loved being part of Chooky's sew-along to make this Churn Dash quilt.  The pretty setting was designed by Karen Styles of Somerset Patchwork.  I used Bonnie and Camille coral pinks.

Coincidentally, my friend Karen who does most of my quilting, is also a Karen Styles.  Love Clamshells and it looks pretty on this quilt.

The backing is a pretty floral from Bonnie and Camille's "Smitten" range.

Had a great weekend - saw all the family.

Dwell 2

I forgot that I had also finished off "Dwell 2".  This was made in Bonnie and Camille's last collection collaboration, "Merry Little Christmas".   I made the quilt larger than the original pattern.

I asked Karen to use "Diagonal Plaid" to quilt Dwell 2 - love this design too.

After 3 weeks, I turned on the sewing machine last night and added binding to Flicker from View for Mum to stitch down and tonight I might sew binding on the Churn Dash SAL quilt.

Looking forward to Sunday - spending the day with Vinnie while Jenni and Kurt see "Moulin Rouge".

Fireworks

Last quilt finished in this latest batch is "Fireworks", designed by Thimble Blossoms.  It is made using Bonnie and Camille fabrics.

I added an extra-wide border because I wanted to have a wavy edge.  I have a special ruler to help with the measurements.

I asked Karen to use "Featheration" on this quilt.

In an effort to use up some stash, over the last few weeks I've been cutting out a bunch of quilts.  Don't envisage starting any of these till next year.

I'm going to make an effort to start the Butterfly quilt before too long.

Sewcialites

"Sewcialites" was a sew-along organised by The Fat Quarter Shop and 18 designers, each providing two block patterns. My blocks are made with Moda Bella Solid or Kona Solid fabrics and were all from stash.

I asked Karen to choose a quilting design and she chose "Abstract Butterflies" - love these butterflies - they add a touch of whimsy to the quilt.

The Churn Dash Sew-Along quilt has been quilted with Clamshells - so happy with how this looks and am looking forward to it arriving home later this week.

Towards the end of my holiday, I started sewing Lissa Alexander's "Friendship Blues" together.  The four-patches had been made for a while.

Haven't turned on the sewing machine for over two weeks - I've had some flu bug or other.  Seems to be taking ages to go away.  Maybe I'll feel like sewing tonight.

25 HST Blocks

Many years ago, Camille Roskelley, Thimble Blossoms, posted instructions on her blog to make 25 blocks each using 16 half-square triangles.  I've had this design in the back of my mind ever since and as there were so many larger triangle offcuts from some of the quilts I've made recently, I decided to make these 25 blocks.

I had plenty of the aqua fabric from The Good Life left over from a quilt backing, so it worked very well for the posts and border.

Karen quilted this with Orange Peel - always a favourite.

"Flicker from View" has been sent to Karen for quilting.

Cloud 9 is such a pretty quilting design for baby quilts.

When the binding is sewn on, Mum will sew it down then she can give it to her newest great-grandbaby, born last week.

Star Pop

This is the second time I've made this quilt, designed by Emily Dennis of Quilty Love.  This pattern comes together very easily and has large blocks.

For the last quilt I asked Karen to choose a design - she chose Rodeo and I used it again for this quilt.  It looks lovely.

I'm not 100% keen on this shade of green but it works well with the various blues in the range.

"Fireworks" is quilted and I'm hoping to make a wavy edge on this quilt.

Thimbles and Needles asked me to test her latest design "Flicker the View" and I decided to make the baby size so that Mum can give it to her 13th great-grandchild due in two weeks or so.  I used 'Guess How Much I Love You' fabric and it's very sweet.

Waiting for some backing fabric to arrive and I can send it away for quilting.
