Happy Halloween

When I made the large "Happy Halloween" quilt for Hugo, I had plenty of fabric left over to make the smaller version.  I sewed up the quilt top in late 2025 and the quilt was finished in January.  The background is the purple in this photo.

The backing is a different purple.

Happy Halloween

Elizabeth Hartman's "Happy Halloween" is finished.  I hope my little sweetheart likes it.  Really enjoyed making this and I have plans to make the small version one day.

A few months ago I bought some Kona Regal but that colour was too dark to use as the background - not enough contrast with the charcoals and black, so I bought Kona Noble Purple as suggested in the pattern.  The Regal fabric came in handy for the backing. Karen quilted this with Square Dance - this design works really well with Elizabeth Hartman designs.

Jenni, Kurt and Daisy went to a wedding on Sunday while Vinnie and I had a fun day at Sydney Zoo.  I like this zoo as it's close to their home, isn't too big to walk around all the exhibits with a little child and there is a good range of animals in nice surroundings.

At the moment I'm working on "Happy Stripes" designed by Emily Dennis of Quilty Love.  This is such a fantastic pattern for anyone who wants to make a quilt in a very short time.

The jelly roll was a gift from my American friend - it is "London Parks" a Liberty fabric produced by Riley Blake.  I was able to buy some border and binding fabrics from the same range here in Aus.

Last Saturday was Jelly Roll Day but I didn't start this quilt because it was Elizabeth's birthday and the next day I was with Vinnie.

Started sewing these blocks on Monday - the designer says she can make a quilt top in one day.

Vintage Quilts

I have a dear friend who lives in South Carolina, USA.  She has sent me some wonderful gifts over the years, including two vintage quilt tops - the first many years ago and the second just after Daisy was born.

Karen quilted both of these with Flowers for Lynda.

I used Tasha Noel's "Quilt Fair" fabric for the backing and binding.

For this quilt I used a Thimble Blossoms' wideback from her "Dwell" range along with a red gingham I had in my stash for the binding.

So happy to have a vintage quilt for my granddaughters.

I've made Thimble Blossoms' "Sweet Escape" before but I was able to buy some more of the aqua/white check, so thought I'd make another.

Most of the fabrics are from Thimble Blossoms' "Sunday Stroll" and "One Fine Day" ranges with more from my stash added in.

The backing is a "One Fine Day" fabric and, again, I asked Karen to use Modern Loops for the quilting.

Summerville

Last year I bought a fat quarter bundle of Tasha Noel's "Simply Country" fabric - it is so pretty.  Quite some time went by before I decided what to make with it.

This is "Summerville" designed by Thimble Blossoms and I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

I also bought a bolt of wideback for the backing.  Karen used Modern Loops for the quilting design.

On 1 August Elizabeth Hartman released her new pattern "Happy Halloween" and I have someone who loves that time of year - it's probably for the lollies.

Like all of her patterns, there are lots of pieces but the blocks are enjoyable to make.
