and Sylvia's Bridal Sampler which I've been making on and off (mostly off) since May 2010.  Some blocks are sewn into rows.

I currently have three quilts on the go using Me and My Sister fabrics - all the blocks (plus a couple of extras) have been made for the Jacob's Ladder Quilt.

Decided to use a rainbow layout for this one (as in Jelly Rolls Gone Wild above) and might start sewing the blocks together later in the week (there are sashings and posts between the blocks and rows).

Had such a fun day with Gulliver on Friday - we visited Centennial Park so he could ride his bike and play in the park before going home to make lots of Lego vehicles.

Log Cabin Quilt

This quilt is from a pattern called "Jelly Rolls Gone Wild 2" by Me and My Sister Designs.  They also designed the fabric.

The quilt was started at a workshop in July with Barb and Mary and the binding was stitched down on Sunday night.

All of the fabrics these girls design are so happy and great fun.

Karen quilted pretty bows all over the quilt.   I've always loved bows.

Thrilled to bits with how this quilt has turned out.

Log Cabin Quilt Top

At the class with Barb and Mary I chose to start the Log Cabin quilt from their Jelly Rolls Gone Wild pattern.  All their fabrics are such fun, happy colours and designs.  I decided to add borders, mainly because I wanted to use up as much of the fabric as possible (still have quite a few strips leftover).  Sewed on the last border a couple of nights ago.

 

A while ago I ordered some cute dotty fabric to back this quilt - once again the parcel was held up in Customs for almost two weeks.

I also bought a mystery Bonnie and Camille Fat Eighth bundle and some remnants - extra Bonnie and Camille and Fig Tree fabrics are always handy to have in the cupboard.

During the class there were lots of prize draws and I won a charm pack of the girls' Giggles fabrics and we were each given a charm pack of their next range Dot Dot Dash.  I've been wondering what to make with these charm packs and decided to make a small Snippets quilt, designed by Bonnie Olavesen (Cotton Way).

The quilt is made up of two basic shapes:  hourglass blocks (pictured) and half-square triangles.  I think the little quilt will look wonderful in these fun colours.

The stack of granny squares is growing and I've crocheted a few together - just to see how they look.

Had a lovely time on Wednesday with most of my favourite people and have a busy weekend coming up, starting with The Wharf Review tonight - hoping for lots of laughs; Southern Stars tomorrow to watch Jenni's school perform and a 90th birthday party on Sunday.

A Couple More ...

Cot quilt tops.  No more (at least until I've quilted these).

"Retro" is a design from Camille Roskelley's book "Simply Retro".  The seafoam coloured fabric is a lovely soft flannel.

The traditional Shoo Fly block was used for the last cot quilt.  It creates nice secondary patterns.  The fabric is Riley Blake's "Hollywood Sparkle" - it has a lovely pearlised sheen.  Very glamorous.

I added the leftover blocks to the backing - it needs a good iron before basting.

During the week I received a couple of parcels from friends in Queensland.  A while ago I ordered some magnetic pin bowls for Christmas presents but missed out on a pink one for myself.  Teresa was placing an order and managed to score a pink one for me - you could say I was tickled pink.

Also, Helen sent some fabric so that I can make a certain sweetheart a Pookie Panda.

I have the best friends.

Another border has been added to Jelly Rolls Gone Wild Log Cabin

and the pile of little granny squares is slowly growing.

Had some extra time on Saturday afternoon and made this very cute pencil case - it's a free design called "A Pencil Case for Lola" from Patterns by Annie.  The very cute fabric was a gift from another friend a few months ago.

Having a day off on Wednesday - so looking forward to seeing the babies.

Log Cabin Progress

The last couple of nights I've worked on the Jelly Rolls Gone Wild Log Cabin quilt designed by Me and My Sister and started at the workshop with the girls a couple of weeks ago.  Barb and Mary's recent blog posts have been about their trip to Australia.

I've made mine a little bigger by adding the white fabrics from the jelly roll (and a few extras).  I love the rainbow effect of their layout.

and I'm adding a cute border.

Knitting

Long before the babies were on the way I knitted a couple of outfits just because I liked them.  Not sure if/when they'll fit ChaCha but it was about time I sewed them up and finished them off.

I have a few things underway for Smudgie too that will fit him next winter.

A parcel arrived last week from Helen containing the fabulous Pookie Panda for little Smudgie.  Pookie is so beautiful.

A few rows of the Jelly Rolls Gone Wild Log Cabin quilt are sewn together - it's very colourful.

Three rows to go and I'm thinking of adding a border or two to make it single-bed size.

Had yesterday off work and spent the afternoon with my favourite little people and their parents.

Busy Few Days

I took two days off work last week:  one to attend a class with Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister, then the next to supposedly sew for the whole day.

Thursday was such a great day.  Drove to Sydney with three friends for the class.  Barb and Mary are so delightful and friendly - just like their fabric designs.  The girls designed the Oh Cherry Oh fabric I've used a lot as well as the Text Me quilt blocks I made a while ago (still have to sew all of those blocks together).

I decided to make the log cabin quilt as I've never made a whole log cabin quilt.  We were given a jelly roll and cutting instructions beforehand, which was a big help, so much cutting.  During the day there were loads of giveaways and we each received a cute pair of scissors, made a fob for the scissors, and also received a charm pack of the girls' next range and a pattern to use the charm pack.

Early Friday morning I received an email to say my new cutting table will be on its way very soon so instead of sewing I spent the day painting, cleaning and re-arranging furniture in the sewing room.  The room hasn't been so clean for ages.

Fitted in a bit of sewing on Friday night, mainly because I had the Swell fabrics all set out on the design sheet and wanted to clear it off to pack away.  Half of the blocks are sewn - 15 more to go.

then the rest of the day was spent visiting my grandbabies - that's always fun - and had a lovely day on Sunday going out for lunch with girlfriends.  Needed to come back to work for a rest.
