Leanne Beasley's original idea was to make a note every day for a year but I knew I couldn't keep up with that so I made a panel for a month with a few little stitcheries on each diary block. I had a collection of 12" star block patterns I'd been wanting to use in a quilt so this worked out well using a variety of red, burgundy, caramel, off-white and cream fabrics from my stash.
Karen did the quilting a few months ago and the binding was sewn on straight away but not stitched down till this week.
Reading what happened over that year has been fantastic: my children's 20th, 25th and 28th birthdays, our holiday in Tasmania, Mum's 80th birthday party, a friend's visit to Sydney for the quilt show and lots of everyday stuff. So much has happened since then including university graduations, two weddings, two grandbabies.

Wow Lynda - that is amazing - what a great idea - it looks wonderful! And well done on finishing .... no-one ever said it was a race to finish quilts did they??
Thats an extra special one. I remember thinking I couldn't keep up with a note a day either, but what you have done is a lovely keepsake.
I had forgotten you started this quilt.... so glad you finally got it finished, what a great keepsake.
well done on your finish, a much more practical interpretation of the journal quilt. I did a post a day on mine and it is huge. I doubt it will ever get quilted or completed as I'm worried about the writing fading. It is nice to revisit it though, it was a big year.
Love the colours you have used.
What a fantastic quilt ....lots of lovely memories xxx
