Pyjama Babies Cot Quilt

A new baby boy was born into my dear friend's family in April.  I stitched out some cute designs called "Pyjama Babies" on the embroidery machine and found a very sweet fabric in Spotlight to use for the surrounding Sawtooth Stars, backing and binding.

Mum stitched down the binding and the quilt will be going to the Grandma next time I see her.

Last August, I think it was, I cut out blocks for "Lemon Meringue" a quilt designed by Corey Yoder in Bonnie and Camille's "Early Bird" range.  Since then I've been making the blocks and they're now all done.

Sashings are next and then the quilt top can be sewn together.

Karen sent me another charm pack of "Catalina" and now a border has been added to "Crosswalk Charm Quilt" table topper and it is ready for quilting.

I love this "Coney Island" fabric - it's the backing for the table topper.

Another new start:  "Gelato" designed by Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life.  This time I've used all FigTree and Company fabrics - mostly left-over pieces from other quilts.

"Gypsy Girl" designed by Anka's Treasures is finished.  I stitched down the binding while watching tv on the weekend.  The FigTree and Company "Chantilly" fabrics are so pretty.

I'm part way through sewing down the binding on my red "Summer Nights" quilt - hope to finish that some time this week.

Still working from home although instead of our usual zoom meeting on Friday, we met up at a cafe for a coffee - so nice to see everyone from the office again after 8 or so weeks.

Sweet Escape Wallhanging

A lady in USA asked me to make her a wallhanging to fit a particular spot in her house.  She wanted this design, "Sweet Escape" in Bonnie and Camille fabrics with yellow backing and the red/white stripe for binding.  She also asked for Orange Peel quilting so I sent the quilt to Karen for quilting.

Karen has also been busy quilting another two of my quilts.  "Gypsy Girl" designed by Anka's Treasures in FigTree and Company's pretty "Chantilly" range.

And "Summer Nights" in red Bonnie and Camille fabrics.

Both of these quilts are home and waiting for me to sew on the bindings.

Many years ago I bought the pattern for "Strawberry Social" and just never got around to making it - I thought it would be a good quilt to make now so I sorted through my red box of fabrics and had plenty to make the strawberries (without using any Bonnie & Camille or FigTree fabrics).

I did make one smaller Bonnie and Camille strawberry to add to my next Bonnie and Camille Sampler.

The quilt top is now finished and is with Jenny for quilting.

I bought the cute strawberry fabric last year from Auntie's Quaint Quilts to use with this quilt and the binding has been in the drawer for years - made it for a quilt and didn't use it, so that's a bonus.

Still working from home but there is talk of going back to the office some time next month.

Bradley Street Cot Quilt

My sweet daughter-in-law, Peta, asked me to make a quilt for her friend who was having her first baby in April.  Peta bought most of the fabrics and had a particular fabric in mind for the backing.

We ended up not using the teal for the binding.  The May Gibbs fabric chosen for the backing is just stunning.

I've lost count of how many times I've made this pattern.  My friend, Jenny, quilted it using a wattle/gum leaf design and it was a perfect choice.

Mum stitched down the binding

Peta was very happy with the quilt and so was her friend.

I started another cot quilt yesterday after work - gosh it was a quick design to cut out and sew up.  Lots of big pieces.  This is "Ziggy Baby" designed by Cluck Cluck Sew - this is such a great design that will work with loads of colourways and ideas:  brights, pastels, I Spy etc.

I had just enough of the pink pin dot to use for the background/step fabric

and just enough of the pretty Amy Sinibaldi peach fabric for the backing.

I like to have a few cot quilts ready for when my children want one for their friends' new babies.

Still working at home.  My birthday fell on Mothers' Day this year and I was so pleased and grateful that the family could visit (in shifts).

Cot Quilts & Other New Starts

Can't seem to settle to working on one thing at the moment, so there's a few new starts.

When I made the first "Sweet Escape" quilt, I made a big mistake cutting out the aqua strips.  Fortunately I was able to use lots of them in the wallhanging size "Sweet Escape" and the leftover pieces have been used in nine-patch blocks in the centre panel of a cot quilt.

Added some Chelsi Stratton hearts to the top and bottom, some simple borders and it's done.

While working from home, I thought it would be ok to have the embroidery machine working away and stitched out these cute "Pyjama Babies" designs.

Found this cute fabric on special in Spotlight and it works very well with the colours in the embroideries.

The quilt top is being custom quilted and will be going to a dear friend's new grandson.

I found a charm pack of the new FigTree & Co fabric "Catalina" that I had hidden away in the Pink Room and started a little table topper quilt called "Crosswalk Charm" quilt - just need to buy some Catalina yardage for the outer border and binding when it's available in Australia.  I've also been making some blocks for a new B&C sampler quilt.

On the weekend I started sewing the "Village" blocks together.  I love these quilts - so much colour and lots of fun fabrics.  This one will be going to Keepsafe Quilts along with the Kindness Project quilts I made a while ago.

The isolation restrictions were lifted a little in NSW on Friday, just in time for Matt's birthday (my son-in-law) on Sunday.  So lovely to visit Matt, Elizabeth and the two little ones to wish Matt happy birthday and have lunch with them.  I haven't seen T since the start of isolation and have been missing her a lot. I had a visit with H a few weeks ago and I've seen Michael, Peta and Gulli a few times as well as visiting Mum twice a week.

Yesterday was Jenni and Kurt's first wedding anniversary - what an eventful year they've had.
