Ain't She Sweet

I have to admit, I've never been a fan of prim designs but lately some designers have been releasing patterns of the cutest dolls, eg Annie Smith of Country Keepsakes. "Loubee Lou" is in Homespun No 53 and she really appealed to me (even with her painted face). I am totally daunted by the thought of painting but the instructions were excellent and I'm happy with how her face turned out (although the mouth could do with re-painting).

She's been sitting undressed in the sewing room for a couple of weeks and, as it did pour and pour yesterday, I had a chance to make her clothes and finish her off. I loved making the hat.

I hope my friend Kristy has enjoyed her visit to Sydney. For the first day and a half the weather was dreadful but it has cleared up beautifully.

Elizabeth and Matt visited overnight, so we had a lovely lazy morning over breakfast before they left to drive back to Sydney. What to do now? Washing/tracing? Better fold up the sofabed in the sewing room and tidy up in there first.

Hi Lynda - wonder whether you might be able to drop me an email please. I'm Managing Editor for Homespun and would love to show your photo of Loubee Lou in the magazine. If you could email me to let me know whether this is possible, would be appreciative. Congrats on your version of the doll - you've done very well. Cheers - Catherine
