Summer Days

Another quilt finished in April - "Summer Days" designed by Bonnie Olaveson (Cotton Way) and made using loads of Bonnie and Camille fabrics.  I added Sawtooth Star blocks and wider sashing to make the quilt bigger.

I love the Baptist Fan quilting Karen added to this quilt.

For my birthday this year I bought myself a stack of Tula Pink's "Everglow" fabrics.  This is the first Tula Pink fabric I've used and the colours are fantastic.

I immediately knew which quilt I would make - "All Stacked Up" designed by Kaffe Fasset.  I've made this quilt before and thought it would work really well with all the stripes and spots.  The larger prints are beautiful.

Pretty trimmings.

This quilt needs to laid out as you go when putting it together.

I added an extra row to the width and two rows to the length.

The binding has been attached and will be stitched down soon.

Moda Love Quilt

This quilt was finished in April.  "Moda Love" is a free block design from Moda Fabrics - it's basically the traditional Carpenter's Wheel block.  Instructions are given for various sized fabrics from 2-1/2" squares to 10" (layer cake) squares.

Didn't have quite enough of the white-on-white background fabric so used some Moda Bella Solid Ruby Ice to add contrast.  The rest of the quilt is made with Thimble Blossoms' second range "Dwell" - I like the pretty pinks.

Karen used "Hearts and Stars" for the quilting - it gives a lovely texture.

The backing is from Bonnie and Camille's "Shine On" range - so many lovely fabrics in this range.

I noticed that Then Came June posted a free pattern and decided to make the quilt from my stash of low volumes with pink, orange, coral, yellow and green fabrics for the sashings and blue, turquoise and teal fabrics for the posts (as per one of the suggestions in the fabric).

So pleased with how this has turned out - so fresh and pretty and, as a friend said, a great pattern to use up busier low volume fabrics.

Waiting for backing fabric to arrive then it can be sent off for quilting.

Stitchery Sampler

Last year I bought a kit to make Figtree & Co's "Stitchery Sampler" - I love the pieced blocks but didn't enjoy making the orange peel or hexagon blocks and appliqueing them to the background.  The fabrics are "Figtree Shirtings" and are lovely designs.

Also love this backing fabric.

Wasn't sure about which quilting design to choose so left the decision to Karen (Quilting on the Coast).  She used "Wind and Waves" which looks great.

Little sweetheart had borrowed a dress from a friend and wanted me to make one in the same design for her.  We went to Spotlight to choose fabric and she chose something completely different to her friend's plain aqua dress.  Was very happy when I found the glittery navy ribbing in my stash.

Scrappy Celebration

"Scrappy Celebration" is a Lissa Alexander (@modalissa) design that was a free sew-along on Instragram.  Lissa is the queen of scrappy quilts - I love anything she makes/designs.

For this quilt I used lots of Figtree & Co fabrics - one colour combination for each block design.  I also love quilts with scrappy backgrounds and Figtree has lots of low volume prints that work so well as backgrounds.

Once again I asked for "Filigree" quilting - it always looks so lovely with Figtree fabrics.

Cot Quilts

A couple of Jenni's friends had baby boys last year - I was a bit late making their cot quilts - they were finished a couple of months ago.

Once again I used the "Bradley Street" pattern for one of the quilts.  The fabric range is "Delivered with Love" and this is so sweet for a baby boy or baby girl.  The colours are lovely.

Kept with favourite "Cloud 9" quilting - love this for cot quilts.

The second quilt is Sawtooth Stars made from some cute jungle animal print from Nerida Hansen.

"Rainbow Hearts" quilting for this one.

You Have My Heart

I've always loved hearts and when a sew-along was to make "You Have My Heart" was posted on Instagram, I decided to join in.  The quilt pattern is in Bonnie and Camille's book "Quilt Bee".  The fabric is Thimble Blossoms' "Dwell" range with a white-on-white from Bonnie and Camille's "The Good Life" for the background.

"Cloud of Hearts" is my new favourite pantograph and I asked Karen to use it on this quilt.

I also love the big floral design in the "Dwell" wideback.

Last week I went to the pictures (first time in ages) to see the John Farnham documentary - so wonderful.  He is such a lovely person and so very talented.

By the Seashore

Looks like I have around 10 blog posts to write.  So far behind because I've been extra busy with Mum.

"By the Seashore" was finished in March and I love this design.  Fabric placement makes such a difference to the look of these blocks.  The fabric is "Dwell" designed by Camille Roskelley (Thimble Blossoms) and the pattern is designed by Kate Henderson Quilts (an Australian designer).  I think I'll make this again one day - maybe a bit larger.

Karen (Quilting on the Coast) quilted it with "Filigree" and it looks lovely.

The backing is a wideback from the "Dwell" range/
