Picnic

A client asked for an orange quilt and decided on a smaller version of "Picnic" designed by FigTree and Co - the lady had bought another orange quilt of mine as a gift for her sister last year and wanted a lap quilt to complement the first quilt.  I had a few of the fabrics still in my stash so I was pleased it all came together so well.

The binding is the same fabric as the first quilt

and Jenny (AngelCake Quilting) used the same Pearl Swirls design.

"Sewcialites" Block 12 is Faithful designed by Thimble Blossoms:

A few weeks ago I made some blocks to start "Stroll", also designed by Thimble Blossoms.

I don't think the quilt top will be together before the New Year - there is too much dressmaking and Christmas sewing happening at the moment and most spare time is spent working on the veranda upgrade.

Had a very busy weekend - T&H stayed over Friday night and Saturday, Elizabeth and I went out for dinner then to a drag show on Saturday night and Gulli came over on Sunday and Monday.  Mum visited each day as well so it was great she was able to spend time with the little ones.

Chinoiserie No 2

My daughter-in-law claimed the first "Chinoiserie" quilt and I had so many floral fabrics still in my stash I cut out another one a few weeks ago.

It was finished in early December and I love how it turned out.

I asked Jenny (AngelCake Quilting) to use the same design as on the first Chinoiserie - Narnia.

Mum turned 93 on 4 December.  Quite a few of the family crammed into her unit for dinner - it was a fun, loud time and Mum loved it all.

"Sewcialites" Block 11 in Cheer designed by Me and My Sister:

The pile of Hourglass a Day blocks is growing

and I had to sew a nine-patch together to see how it looked.

I think I'll be making 49 nine-patches.

Play Quilt

Jenni and Kurt requested a quilt for the baby with mainly black and white graphic prints for then the baby is playing on the floor.  This was a fun quilt to put together.  It's been finished for a while but I hadn't had a chance to give it to them till the end of November.

I added some rattles and squeakers - the idea is from Paula Storm's "Sit Me Up Donut".

Mum and the little ones were also visiting that weekend and the little ones insisted the tree go up.

Lots of work is happening on the verandas at my place - the rails are being replaced with pickets.

The Saturday Jenni and Kurt visited was so very hot and then the Sunday was extremely hot again with huge winds.  A branch fell onto my roof and smashed the skylight over the bathroom - luckily my brother was there and he put a tarp over the skylight.

Later that same day another branch fell and landed on the rail above the lattice fence.  The weather was absolutely horrible that day.

Sea Glass

I think this is the third full-size "Sea Glass" quilt that I've made.  I love how gentle and delicate this quilt looks.  It's a wonderful design to use up loads of favourite FigTree little pieces.

I love the "Modern Loops" quilting design and ask Karen (Quilting on the Coast) to use it so often - along with Orange Peel.

Bonnie and Camille Sampler 3

I love making these scrappy sampler quilts and working out the jigsaw so that all the blocks can fit together without too many filler strips.

Finished this quilt early last week and love how it turned out.

Jenny at AngelCake Quilting used a new-to-me design, "Chantilly", and I'm sure I'll request this again.

Had a lovely long weekend down the Far South Coast with Lynell, Robyn and Wendy.  Took one photo all weekend - Tathra Wharf.  We stayed nearby.  Lots of local seafood to eat, lots of shopping in the nearby towns, plenty of laughing and talking.

"Gracious" designed by Vanessa Goertzen is the latest "Sewcialites" block.

Catch Up

Last Friday night I wasn't sure what I felt like sewing and then I noticed the stack of Gypsy Wife blocks - hadn't made the blocks for last month or this month.

October:

November:

All the blocks are done and it's time to start cutting the strips to bring all these blocks together into a quilt top.  That's a job for next month or next year.  I'm very much looking forward to the next SAL:  "Boho Heart".

Last week's "Sewcialites" block is called "Soulful" and designed by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree and Co.

On Friday, Leanne, our receptionist at SMART, retired.  We went out for lunch to wish Leanne well - so lovely to be able to all go out together for an enjoyable afternoon.  We've worked together for 8 years and the office is now very quiet without Leanne.

Sunday was the day to pack away my year-round decorations and bring out the boxes of Christmas goodies.  It will take a couple of weeks to put it all up, especially with going away this weekend.  Looking forward to a weekend down the coast.

Finished putting "Picnic" together last night and will be delivering it to the quilter tomorrow after work.

I'll be picking up the Bonnie and Camille Sampler when I visit Jenny tomorrow.  It's turned out so beautifully.

I've never posted a photo of my Sweetheart T but this action shot is so fantastic.  She loves her soccer games with her team, The Unicorns - what else would a team of 5 year old girls be called?

Bradley Street

Over the years I've made a few cot-sized "Bradley Street" quilts.  There was a fair bit of the Nerida Hansen May Gibbs fabric and Jocelyn Proust fabric left from the last one so I decided to make a full-size quilt.  This one is roughly 66" square.

I asked Jenny from AngelCake Quilting to use the same Wattle design and it's really lovely with all these Aussie fabrics.

There has been more cutting out happening in The Pink Room - the Bonnie and Camille scrap drawer is almost empty after cutting the pieces into 2-1/2" squares or 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" rectangles

and I've cut out fabrics for another "Stripe Me Lucky".  I have fabrics put aside to cut out another "Strawberry Social" too.
