Our Weekend

The Birthday Girl:

The Cake:

 The Cake Decorator:

Beautiful weather over the weekend - so nice sitting out in the fresh air in Elizabeth's backyard with family and a bunch of friends.

This weekend's sewing - another cot quilt top using leftover Beatrix Potter fabrics.

Next weekend is a long weekend in NSW and it will be a quilting weekend for me (I hope) - time to get stuck into that growing pile of tops.

Stitching

Some little dolls

and some tiny dolls

I have a fair bit of the Babushka fabric leftover from Jenni's Frenchy Bag, so thought I would make myself a Melly & Me "Feathered Friends" bag using Babushka stitcheries instead of the birds and birdhouses.  A job for the weekend.

Double Irish Chain

This is the photo I've been trying to upload all day.  Being so busy with the eisteddfod has seriously cut into my sewing time and by last Friday night I was really wanting to cut into some fabric.  I've had these lovely Moda Essentials and cute teddy bear fabrics in the cupboard for some time.  I should have cut narrower strips for all the blocks so I could have 5 blocks by 7 blocks.  This will finish at cot size (~42" x 52").

Another top to add to the never ending "to be quilted" pile.

No 1 Princess

No 1 Princess's birthday today - we are very much looking forward to seeing her on Sunday.  This year's birthday celebrations will be quite laid back compared with last year (such a fun night for our fun-loving darling).

Having a lot of trouble uploading photos today.

Aran Cardigan

I finished this aran cardigan last night - to fit a 2 year old.  Might send it to my great-nephew or perhaps start a hope chest.

Block 10 of our on-line group's 12-1/2" BOM - Card Trick.  I am so looking forward to putting all these blocks together - 2 more to go.

Bit of this, bit of that

On Tuesday night our little stitching group got together - it was Paula's birthday, so there was cake

and also some show and tell.  I didn't get a photo of Paula's finished quilt top - lots of heavy machinery and with bright sashings.  She's now quilting around the trucks and dozers.  Karen has finished a quilt that's been over 30 years in the making.

I haven't been doing much stitching/sewing the last 6 weeks or so, knitting seems to have taken over at home, but I've been stitching these little girls some lunchtimes (none of the colours are correct in this photo, but it gives the general idea).

The dolls are traced from the fabric I used to make Jenni's bag last month.

I've missed machine sewing, so last night put together the easiest quilt top ever (some large blocks with stripe borders) - had this afternoon off from the eisteddfod and added the last border.

I'll think about the quilting after the eisteddfod.

Happy Birthday

Today our baby girl is 23 - Jenni is such a delight and loved so very much.

More Blocks

The latest block for our on-line group is called "Down on the Farm with Keza", an original block designed by Kerry.

3 blocks to go.  The blocks so far:

2 more Sylvia's Bridal Sampler blocks:

Weathervane

Road to Oklahoma

Blocks finished to date:

Making a sampler quilt like this an excellent way of learning colour value, different piecing skills etc.  I can see a couple of blocks which will need re-making down the track.  What looks ok on the cutting board, doesn't look so good when the pieces are cut and sewn together.
