Another "Truly Scrumptious" girl is finished and I'm stitching "Miss Elizabeth" at the moment - she's a bonus girl meant for a label but I'll be putting her front and centre in my quilt.

Received an email this morning advising that "The Quilter's Kitchen: An Elm Creek Quilts Novel with Recipes" will be out soon. Always happy to have another Elm Creek book to read.

This morning is Jane McGrath's memorial service. I was heartbroken on Sunday to hear the world had lost this wonderful, inspirational, courageous woman.

Reading

I love to read almost as much as I love to stitch. I am about halfway through Jodi Picoult's "Change of Heart" and am finding it pretty difficult going. One of the reviews on Jodi Picoult's website says "Do you remember the last book you read where, after each couple of pages, you had to set the novel aside and regroup?" - I am finding this very much to be true. I think she's a wonderful writer but can only take this book in small doses.

Jennifer Chiaverini's "The Winding Ways Quilt" is waiting on my bookshelf and I'm looking forward to reading this next. I have loved every one of her books.

Shopping Has Arrived

The other fabrics for Jenni's "Travel Quilt" have arrived. Jenni really liked the orange squirrel fabric in the first lot of fabrics and hinted she would like a bag so I bought enough to make her one; the blue/brown argyle is for the backing (she loves argyle check). I really like the red leaf fabric on the bottom left and the stripe on the bottom right.

Another goodie parcel arrived today as well- love books almost as much as fabric.

I've been reading/collecting the "Elm Creek" books since "The Quilter's Apprentice" was first published and each year a bunch of friends and I read the latest Jodi Picoult - but I'm a bit behind, still have to read "The Tenth Circle" - might start that tonight. "The Friday Night Knitting Club" looked like a fun read.
