Sporting Weekend

Not a lot of sewing last week - finished sewing "Hearts at Home" together and it's ready to drop off for quilting

and a fair bit of time was spent cutting out "Vintage Holiday" fabrics to make two quilts.

Early Friday morning, Lynell, Robyn and I drove up to Homebush to the Invictus Games - it was a big day out.  Two sessions of wheelchair basketball followed by a session of athletics.  Was great to see the Aussies do so well.  Then on Saturday night we went to the Hawks game - a great win.

Jenni has requested a cot quilt for her best friend's new baby boy.  I bought some "Guess How Much I Love You" fabric - it is so very sweet.

I'm making "Bradley Street" again, mainly because it shows off the lovely prints in the fabric squares.

And last night the final stitches were sewn into the "O Happy Day" binding.

On Sunday afternoon Mum, Elizabeth and I went to see "A Star is Born".  This is the fourth version of the movie Mum has seen - she enjoyed it.  There was a lot I liked about the movie (the music is great) but I'm not as sold on the newer version as I was on the Streisand/Kristofferson version.

Lots Happening

Such a busy weekend.  On Friday night, Mum, Lynell, Robyn and I went to see "The Wharf Review 2018" - the show was truly hilarious this year - SO many highlights.

Shopping in Cabramatta with my girls on Saturday for wedding fabrics and then dinner with The Schoolgirls.  Sunday was Robyn's birthday, so another lunch out.

Started sewing "Hearts at Home" log cabin blocks last week - these go together very quickly once the hearts are made.  Some sashing to go between the blocks when I find the bag containing the little squares for the posts and the quilt top will be together.

Some lovely mail arrived yesterday.  SewLux always wrap their parcel so beautifully.

Bonnie and Camille Club fabrics (the last "Vintage Holiday" and first "Smitten" fabrics) and some remnants to add to the stash.  The grey will be used for "Hearts at Home" backing.

Also received some "Vintage Holiday" silver metallic dot fabric.  Hoping to make FigTree's "All Wrapped Up" and use this for the background.

I took "O Happy Day" over the Karen's a couple of weeks ago

and picked it up last night at stitching.

Lynell, Robyn and I are going to the Invictus Games on Friday to watch some wheelchair basketball and athletics.  Looking forward to seeing the Aussies do well.

Jacob's Ladder

Yesterday I received the first "Summer Nights" block from the Aussie Bonnie and Camille group - December is the month for me to receive blocks, so this was a lovely surprise.

Block made by Julie

A while ago I saw this pretty layout for a Jacob's Ladder quilt - another chain quilt and thought it would work well with my Me and My Sister stash to make a cot/lap quilt.

The quilt has been in the loungeroom for a few weeks ready to have the binding stitched down and I did that on Monday night while catching up on some recorded tv shows.

Karen quilted it with a heart design.

and I had enough of the spotty fabric left for the binding.  That's the last of the spotty fabric.

Have a lovely, busy time coming up over the next couple of weekends - "The Wharf Review" on Friday night, wedding fabric shopping on Saturday with my girls, dinner with the Schoolgirls on Saturday night and Invictus Games the following Friday.

Fun Weekend

"Snippets" in Bonnie and Camille fabrics was started in September last year and has been worked on/put aside a few times.  On Saturday I decided the time had come to sew the blocks together.

The borders were added on Sunday night, the binding was made

and also the backing.

During the week, the quilt tops for Mum's newest great-grandbabies were finished.

Friday night was the first home game of the basketball season - no-one expected the outcome:   tied at the end of the 4th quarter and then FOUR overtimes!  It was sensational - sadly the Hawks lost by one point, but they played their hearts out and provided such a thrilling game.

On Sunday, we went to the Australian Museum in Sydney so the littlies could visit the Dinosaur Exhibition.  They had the best day - so many terrific activities there for children as well as the fantastic displays.

Hi Ho Silver!

Frolic

"Frolic" is a quilt designed by Cluck Cluck Sew and has been almost finished for weeks.  Stitched down the last 6" of binding last night.

The fabrics are also called "Frolic", designed by Me and My Sister.  Went to a class with these girls a few years ago - they are a lot of fun.

Karen quilted Frolic with a star/cloud design.

The backing is the purple ladybug fabric from Frolic and the spotty binding is from an earlier Me and My Sister range.

Wrinkly "Star Drops" top is ready to be quilted once I make the backing.

Two "Strawberry Revisited" fabrics have been used for the borders.

Mum, Jenni, ChaCha and I visited Sew and Tell in Berry recently.  Was very restrained and bought wool for one cardigan/beanie.

"Evita"

On 1 September 2017, Lynell, Robyn and I bought tickets to see Tina Arena starring in "Evita".  30 September 2018 we finally saw this magnificent show.  Tina is a superstar and it was a thrill to see her with the rest of the wonderful cast in the Opera House.

There wasn't heaps of sewing over the last couple of weeks - spent some time cutting out fabrics for "Hearts at Home", a log cabin quilt designed by Chelsi Stratton, with cute hearts at the centre of each block

and "Patchwork Sky", Thimble Blossoms design, mostly using Bonnie and Camille's "Vintage Holiday" fabrics.  Waiting on more fabrics to arrive next week to finish cutting out the rest of this quilt.

Met up with the stitching girls on Saturday afternoon - always fun to see what they're up to, and then had dinner with some dear friends.  This past weekend I worked on "Star Drops".

Yesterday the weather was too miserable to go outside, so now "Star Drops" blocks are all together.

Two borders have been added - the last borders will go on tonight and I'll take some more photos.

Next up will be some more baby boy quilts - Mum has requested two for newest great-grandbabies and Jenni's best friend had a baby boy on Friday.  So many baby boys being born lately.
