Moda Love Quilt

This quilt was finished in April.  "Moda Love" is a free block design from Moda Fabrics - it's basically the traditional Carpenter's Wheel block.  Instructions are given for various sized fabrics from 2-1/2" squares to 10" (layer cake) squares.

Didn't have quite enough of the white-on-white background fabric so used some Moda Bella Solid Ruby Ice to add contrast.  The rest of the quilt is made with Thimble Blossoms' second range "Dwell" - I like the pretty pinks.

Karen used "Hearts and Stars" for the quilting - it gives a lovely texture.

The backing is from Bonnie and Camille's "Shine On" range - so many lovely fabrics in this range.

I noticed that Then Came June posted a free pattern and decided to make the quilt from my stash of low volumes with pink, orange, coral, yellow and green fabrics for the sashings and blue, turquoise and teal fabrics for the posts (as per one of the suggestions in the fabric).

So pleased with how this has turned out - so fresh and pretty and, as a friend said, a great pattern to use up busier low volume fabrics.

Waiting for backing fabric to arrive then it can be sent off for quilting.

Moda Love Cushion

I had lots of good-sized offcuts from recent quilts I'd been making in Nantucket Summer and Dwell, so they've been made into a cushion cover

and a cot/lap quilt

The quilt is back from Karen and is now with Mum to stitch down the binding.

Two more quilts arrived home from Karen this morning:  "You Have My Heart"

and "By the Seashore" both made in Thimble Blossoms' "Dwell" range.

Life is pretty busy and I'm spending more time with Mum.  Still don't really feel like I'm retired but it is wonderful to be able to sew during the daylight hours.

More Quilt Tops

Still sewing up the stacks of blocks.  "Berry Parfait" is a quilt top I made to test a pattern for Thimbles and Needles - another great, scrappy design that goes together so well.  I love a pattern with pressing instructions.

Last week I sent "Berry Parfait", along with three other quilt tops/backings to Karen (Quilting on the Coast) and the first one is on the way back.  "Happy Stripes" designed by Quilty Love.  This is a baby-sized quilt and I think the texture will be wonderful.

"Dwell 2" blocks have been sewn up and this quilt top is pretty bit (around 91" x 95") - quilting will shrink it a bit.  I'm starting another pile to send to Karen.

"Sewcialites" blocks were finished in June last year but I've been dithering about the layout.  Saw this layout on Sister's Choice blog and liked the look of it.  I think I'll add a white border then it can go onto the pile to go to Karen.

"Fireworks" blocks still to be sewn together then I think I'll be up-to-date but I've been sidetracked by a container of half-square triangle offcuts that I started sewing up and trimming.  These are all sewn and I have one more lot to trim then I'll have the 400 needed to make Thimble Blossoms' 25 HST Blocks - 25 different blocks from half-square triangles (16 per block).

The blue triangles in the photo above ("Happy Stripes" offcuts in "Nantucket Summer") will be made into a "Moda Love" block - might be a cushion cover.

Here it is sewn together.

Recent photo of our littlest sweetheart that Jenni posted - he is the funniest little fellow.  I'll be spending Thursday and Saturday night with him - can't wait.

Sampler Blocks

Over the weekend I started sewing the "Happy Scrappy Baskets" together.  I was so happy that I had just enough of the Corey Yoda "Lulu Lane" large floral to use for the setting triangles.

By Sunday night the quilt top was together and the backing was made; ready to drop off to Karen on Monday night.

The main reason for visiting Karen was to pick up "Nine Patch Waltz", which was quilted last week.  It looks so lovely.  Might get around to sewing on the binding next week.

I've decided to make another Bonnie and Camille Sampler Quilt - this time making a block from each quilt I start this year as well as blocks made for the Aussie Bonnie & Camille Beehive.  I've made 5 blocks this week

"Moda Love"
"Nine Patch Waltz"

"Starry Starry Night"
"Summer Nights"
to add to the blocks already made.

"Lucky"
"Happy Scrappy Baskets" and "Spinning Stars"
Centre of "Fresh"
"Snippets"
It's a great opportunity to use up all the leftover pieces of background fabrics.

Last weekend was busy with little Sweetheart staying over.  We went to see "Toy Story 4" on Sunday morning and visited GG (Mum) before heading home to her place.

This weekend the stitching girls are coming over.  My son and his family are moving house next week, so Sunday I'll be packing.

Moda Love String Quilt

Last month, Moda fabrics hosted a quilt-along to make their Moda Love Quilt.  I'd recently seen a Moda Love Quilt made with scrappy log cabin blocks and thought it could work with string blocks.

I stitched down the scrappy binding over the last two days - spent them with Mum as she recovered from cataract surgery.

The quilt is 71" square.

I love the multi-coloured polka dot background fabric.  Karen used a new quilting design called "Pearl's Desire".

The "Smitten" fabric for the butterfly body arrived yesterday.  This version of the quilt will have a couple of borders added when some more of the aqua check fabric arrives - it's for a special present.

Waiting for some green The Good Life fabric so that I can finish off the other butterfly.

Looking forward to the weekend - spending time with my little sweethearts and the Schoolgirls.

Butterflies

I'm waiting for green fabric for the butterfly body and aqua check fabric for the outer border to arrive so I can complete "Butterfly Patch" in Bonnie and Camille's "Smitten" fabric.

So, I started another "Butterfly Patch" in Bonnie and Camille's "The Good Life fabric.  Once again I've needed to order more fabric as I've run out of the white I use in almost all of my quilts and I need a green for the butterfly body.  Such a great pattern for a quick quilt.

Karen quilted "Moda Love" over the weekend.

and scrappy binding has been sewn on ready to stitch down in the next while

along with the binding on "Seaglass" variation.

Busy, busy weekend cleaning out kitchen cupboards then helping a friend pack for her big move to Sydney today.  Last basketball home game of the season on Saturday night - a disappointing end to the season - but dinner beforehand was nice.

More kitchen cupboard cleaning on Sunday then stitching with the girls in the afternoon.  Only the recipe books to go through now.
