Bonnie and Camille Patchwork Swoon

For some unknown reason I decided I wanted to make two Patchwork Swoon quilts - one in Fig Tree fabrics and the other in Bonnie and Camille fabrics.

The quilt is made using lots of B&C fabrics from many of their ranges ("Bliss" through to "Hello Dalring").  I sewed down the binding last week after Karen finished the quilting.

The backing is from B&C's "Hello Darling" range and the binding is the large red floral from their "Bliss" range.

Over the Easter weekend I was able to finish putting together two I Spy Star Wars quilts:  one single-bed sized

and the other cot sized - the pattern is a block called "Modalove Star"

They've been sent off for quilting.  Also finished off some secret sewing I cut out and started sewing strips together for a new quilt - "Starlight".

Last Thursday I went to the Royal Easter Show with my brother, sister-in-law and niece.  Haven't been for a few years and had the best day.

Bought myself a new handbag at the Show

Spent Saturday with my little sweethearts - always the best day.  Jenni made a dinosaur tail for Gulliver's high chair - it's fabulous!

Yesterday Mum and I went to see "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" - loved it.

Singapore

I've been on a quick holiday to Singapore with my friend Lynell.  40 years ago she travelled to Singapore with about 30 other people - their first stop was Singapore, then Thailand and from Kathmandu they travelled by bus to London.  The trip took 3 months.  A reunion was planned in Singapore for last week and I went along to keep Lynell company.  In 1976 I met up with Lynell and other friends in London after they arrived and spent a few months meeting relatives, travelling around Europe and then sailing back to Australia.

I was last in Singapore in 1978.  Such a lovely city to visit, despite the humidity.  Every day my hair looked like I'd stuck my finger into an electric socket.

Ready for take-off
Gardens by the Bay - such a fabulous place to visit

First up a Singapore Sling

A bit of shopping in Arab Street - so many beautiful fabrics, beads, ribbons in this area.

On our last night we went on a bum boat ride on the river to see the light show at Marina Bay Sands - it was beautiful.

Heading home

and 7 hours after we arrived, Lynell and Robyn took off for New York.

FigTree Patchwork Swoon

Loved making this quilt.  Last year I bought the FigTree "Butterscotch Rose" fabrics from a friend when she was having a destash sale and when this pattern was released I was all set to go.

I used up the rest of the jelly roll strips in the backing.  Karen quilted this quilt - I love this design.  I'm hoping to pick up the Bonnie and Camille version of the quilt soon.

Finished my little man's robot suit recently.

I've had these zips for years so was very happy to find a use for them.

I've been collecting Star Wars fabrics for a few years and started an I Spy Star Wars quilt - the blocks are very quick to go together (12" x 18").  The last three blocks have been made (but not photographed).   I'm hoping to have the top finished over Easter.

Catching Up

Not much sewing happening over the last few weeks - family is always number 1 priority.

About 3 weeks ago I started sewing 64 patch blocks for a Bonnie and Camille version of "Patchwork Swoon" and made some of the star points.

The blocks were put aside till last week when I had some time to sew them together and add the borders.

The quilt top is now with Karen for quilting.

I picked up the Fig Tree version of Patchwork Swoon from Karen on Saturday - it looks so lovely.

Plenty of binding in the near future.  I also picked up my two "Text Me" quilts - these quilts are for donation.

At stitching on Saturday afternoon I started cutting out "Aviatrix Medallion" - there is so much cutting out for this quilt.

All the pretty colours are cut out now - just the templates to go.
